June 2026 Newsletter

Summer gradings and graduations, club ethics, attendance standards, and international seminar dates for Mexico and Egypt.

In All Conflict Situations

  1. Be aware and alert.
  2. Avoid and prevent.
  3. Ignore, smile, walk away.
  4. Pace and lead โ€” be strong and firm, but be nice and polite, and lead to calm and peace.
  5. Expect the unexpected and be ready to respond.
  6. Never underestimate your opponent.
  7. Be nice.

Message to Members

Congratulations everyone โ€” another excellent month of training, teamwork, progress, growth and achievement has been accomplished.

We are still looking for technical, focused and courteous members in all children's and adults' classes who are interested in becoming assistants and eventually instructors. If you or your children are interested, please let us know.

At the beginning of this new training month we welcome all our new members who recently joined the club, and also our former members who have returned to training.

Remember, each class attended and each event participated in is an accomplishment.

One of our club objectives is to help all our members, children and adults, to focus on positive character building and to empower everyone to avoid and prevent bad habits such as smoking, excessive drinking, drugs and gambling โ€” anything that can damage your self-image and self-worth โ€” while getting fitter, faster, stronger, healthier, more skilful and happier through physical training and meditation.

Keep yourself and your children active, and stay involved with healthy and positive habits, challenges and places. We regularly meet former students who truly regret quitting classes, and we have never met anyone who was happy to stop training and stop progressing in their martial arts.

If you're old when you're young, you'll be young when you're old.

Training Standards

To excel at your chosen style, you must train at least 15 minutes at home, at least five days a week.

With the exciting summer gradings and graduations coming up in June, let us aim to attend classes more regularly and enhance our abilities in every aspect of our martial arts, chosen sports and self-defence science.

Physically we aim to improve suppleness, skill, speed, strength and stamina through consistent training โ€” and at a higher level, to master the ancient ways of remaining calm and improving our wisdom through breathing techniques, meditation, mindfulness training, positive outlook, PMA, the club's 48 positive success character-building words and the 8 self-development pillars.

Achieving anything is hard, but maintaining it is even harder. Becoming a champion is hard; staying a champion is harder. Becoming a black belt is hard; continuing to train like a black belt is more challenging. Only continued challenges can make us continually stronger and wiser.

Think big and aim high.

The Five Secrets and the Three Phases

Training is essential when you're happy, when you're sad, when you're bored, when you're energetic and even when you're feeling tired. You are guaranteed to feel better after your training sessions.

Remember the three phases of all sports and new activities: the excitement phase, the perseverance phase and the rewards phase. You have to overcome the perseverance (repetition and boredom) phase to reach the reward phase.

Motivation comes after action, not the other way around. An attitude of gratitude is the key to happiness, progress and success. Start your day with a positive self-affirmation and always go to bed with a positive self-affirmation and gratitude.

  2. Practice
  3. Practice
  4. Persistence
  5. Perseverance

Belt Testing, Gradings and Graduations

To qualify for belt testing, a minimum of 80% class attendance is required each and every month, from one rank promotion to the next. Practising your techniques for 15 minutes per day at home is highly advised.

Regular training helps you master your techniques beyond your imagination. Make every class your best class and give every training session your 100%.

Attending classes more regularly means higher skill levels and better performance in gradings and competitions.

To qualify for your first belt testing and higher rank promotions you must have been training for at least two months for children's classes and three months for adults' classes, and have trained regularly since you started and since your previous grading. You need a full uniform and your current belt, and must complete an intent-to-promote form. For children and teen students this form must be signed by parents and the school teacher as well as the instructor at Masters Temple, as we expect our young students to be aware, alert, focused, courteous and respectful at home and in school as well as in the club.

Forms and grading fees must be returned for pre-registration one week prior to belt testing so that new belts and certificates can be organised in advance. No late entries for belt testing will be accepted.

Members not due to grade at this time can also participate for experience and preparation for the next belt testing, and will receive a dedication and participation certificate at no charge for this preparation challenge.

The week after belt testing is normally Buddy Week โ€” all members, children and adults, are invited to bring a friend or family member to training as a VIP guest free of charge. VIP guests must be in their own age group for safety and appropriate to the class age group.

Club Ethics

  1. Wear official uniforms. Full uniform, or club pants with official club t-shirt or hoodie, and your current belt are compulsory in all classes. New club t-shirts and hoodies are available for purchase.
  2. Bring a bottle of water to all classes to stay hydrated.
  3. No shoes are allowed on the mats for health and hygiene. Please use the shoe racks, and wear shoes when using the bathrooms and changing areas.
  4. Keep toenails short and wash hands before and after using shared equipment or boxing gloves.
  5. Parents, please do not interfere with classes in progress.
  6. Please maintain silence in the main studio while classes are on, whether waiting for your class to begin or waiting for your children. Younger siblings should play quietly in the background so the class can focus and learn.
  7. Students arriving early can wait in the hallway outside. Only quiet warm-up and stretching is allowed on the mats in the background โ€” no bag work and no loud talking or noisy toys while earlier classes are in progress.
  8. No official club uniform or no belt means no training, except for new members waiting for their new uniforms to arrive. Students arriving without official club uniform or belt will only be allowed to sit and watch their class.
  9. No changing clothes in the club hall whatsoever. Please use the changing rooms.
  10. No cursing or bad language in the club. Martial arts is all about respect and courtesy.

Tuition Fees, Absences and Suggestions

To remain free from annual membership fees and annual insurance fees, please make tuition fee payments to the club before or on the 1st of each month. If paying online, please include the student's name and the purpose of the payment in your transaction message โ€” monthly fees and which month, belt testing, uniform, and so on.

Please notify us at least two weeks in advance if you need to be absent for a month, so that we can freeze your membership fees and keep your place in class. Otherwise, tuition fees must be paid in full before the beginning of each month to maintain your membership and the lower tuition rate.

A suggestion box is available in the club for your comments on how we can improve our services.

International Seminars

Congratulations on every class accomplished in previous months. Continued success to you all, and thank you for your ongoing support of the club and your co-operation with club assistants and instructors.
